12 weeks and Weekend Update

It is hard to believe that I am 12 weeks today.  One more week to go until my NT scan and if everything looks good, I will finally be able to relax a little more (and will finally be able to put up a ticker!). I am still quite nervous as some of the time I do not even feel pg.  Other times, I am still tired & hungry like I have never been before.  It drives me nuts that the symptoms come & go! I think if everything goes well, I am going to gain more than last time as I definitely was not this hungry last time! It is crazy to think that next Monday is the 2nd trimester already!  I am hoping & praying everything looks good!  My DH can not go with me to the appointment so I am very nervous.  The paperwork states I will find out the results right away.  Fingers crossed.  This week can not go by fast enough.  Although work has been really slow & really boring, thankfully the rest of my life is crazy busy!  This helps the time to go by!

This weekend was actually VERY stressful.  My parents were here visiting and while they have the best of intentions and they love my little guy very much, they are not very helpful.  They just can not physically help much and at the same time, I think his activity level scares them.   Plus they are set in their ways and used to having freedom so watching a toddler is not something that comes naturally to them.  The last time they did this was almost 40 years ago and they had full time help when both my brother & I were this little.  Although, this did not prevent my mom from being very annoying & making comments that should not have been made -- such as "your brother was not this hard to take care of."   My dad was appalled by my little guy throwing food on the ground or throwing things over the gate that blocks the stairs to the basement.  I was like - he is 18 months for goodness sake!!  I am trying to teach my little guy to tell me he is all done with eating but throwing is another sign he is done!  And they learn by throwing things down stairs.  I just do not go get it or it will become a game.

Another little story, on Saturday, I got my hair cut and my parents drove my little guy around to help him take a nap.  He fell asleep about 5 minutes before I was finished so we decided to drive 1 1/2 hours north to the closest mall so he could nap and so my mom could go to Sephora as they do not have one near where they live.  Well, when we arrived close to the mall, we decided to try to get some lunch at Logans.  We got into the restaurant and my little guy would not sit in a high chair.  I tried and my dad tried but he just would not do it.  So we left and just ate quickly at the mall.  It was fine with me - he had just been in his carseat for 1 1/2 hours.  I knew we would figure something out.   And tonight my mom called to see how my little guy was feeling (as he was sick a good part of the weekend) but she could not help but tell me they stopped at Logan's for dinner because she wanted ribs that she could not get on Saturday and also about all the other kids sitting so nicely in their high chairs!. OMG - what was the point of her comment!! It took all my energy not to say something but I kept my cool and was like, if you really feel the need to say stuff like that, I am going to ignore you.

My mom drives me nuts! I keep telling myself to please not allow myself to become like my mom.  I love her very much and I am very lucky to have the things I have but she drives me crazy!  I know I drive her crazy too so it is both ways (especially since I am not an exercise aholic like her, I am "overweight" in her mind and I do not care about what others think about the way I look or dress.  Where she is an exercise aholic, is very small and is way too concerned about what other things about all facets of her life.)  I have been thinking lately and have figured out why I sometimes have a confidence problem.  My mom is never happy with anything and is always complaining about something (nothing is every good enough) so I am thinking that rubbed off on me somehow and impacted my confidence.

Enough of my venting.  Time for me to get some sleep.  540 will be here before I know it! Icky!  Thank you for letting me vent a bit!!

U/S Today = )

I should be working as I am at home today but my DH is putting in a new light over the kitchen table where I was working so I am a little nervous something will fall on me while he is doing this so I am taking a small break.

I had another u/s today (I love ultrasounds!) and from what I could tell, everything looks good and is on track. I do not have an official report from my doctors office as it was done by the hospital but the u/s technician did not express any concerns to us.  I think she would have brought in a dr if she had any.  At least I am trying to think positively.  Baby measured 10w3d and I am 10w5d per my IUI date and HB @ 156.  As soon as I saw the flicker of the HB, I relaxed a little!  It is a beautiful sight!  I am in love with my little bean and praying everything continues on track for us!

Next up is the NT Scan.  My OBs office arranged for one at a MFM office about an hour from my house near my RE's office.   It is not until 5/7 though - I will be 13 weeks at that point.  I was hoping it would be slightly earlier.  And my next OB appt is on 5/15 so hopefully I will get any results at that appointment if they do not give it to me at the MFMs office.  I am not 100% sure how this works as I did not get one with my little guy.  Since I am older now, I thought it best to get this done.  Hoping & Praying everything looks good!!

I should get back to work.  I do have some more news to share about us moving so hopefully I can find some time to write more about this over the weekend or early next week.  Lots going on in our lives these days!!  It definitely is keeping us busy!!

Happy Friday!

Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy & Update

I am so upset with Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy, I could scream! I ordered meds for my IUI cycle in January.  No problems - meds were delivered, they billed me etc.  Life moves on.  Well, 90 days later, they figure out that they billed me wrong and want me to pay for their mistake.  They tell me they quoted the right amount and I owe the balance even though their system made a mistake.  They tell me I should have known this.  I did not realize that they billed me wrong because between getting my quote & receiving my meds, I made a slight change in the order making it sort of confusing.  I called earlier this week and put in a dispute regarding the balance due but they called today saying they will not budge.  I owe the money in full.  I even tried to get them to meet me part way as this was their mistake but I got a big, "I am sorry, we can not do that." Of course being a small itty bitty customer, I have no leverage.  And it is not fair for them to not take any responsibility.  So, to not ruin my good credit, unfortunately I ended up paying it today.  GRRRRR!!!  I did tell them I will never use their pharmacy again, that I am going to tell as many people as I can and I hope they lose more business than the $250 that I owed.  I am tempted to call my RE's office to tell them, but I know it probably will not sway them from using the pharmacy as they are a bit cheaper.  I would pay a little more just not to use them, if we need them in the future!  If everything works out with this pregnancy as we hope, then I know we will not be needing them for fertility treatments anymore.  Fingers crossed!!!

Thank you for letting me vent!!!

For an update, I am 10w3d today and had my first OB appointment today!  It was both frustrating & not very exciting.  I ended up waiting an hour in the examination room as the midwife had an unscheduled meeting she could not miss.  I wish they would have called me even if it was 745 this morning.  When she finally came in, all she did was talk & ask some questions.  She assumed that my due date was from my LMP but it is not as my IUI was on CD16.  I did not argue with her as it is only 3 days different from what my RE gave to me!  I did not have an u/s today (bummer) but I am going for one tomorrow.  They were not ready for me to have one this morning and wanted me to come back in the afternoon.  I had to finish up a project at work so I was not able to do that so I am going back in the morning.  Unfortunately I have to miss more work but for an u/s, I am good with that! I told my manager my appointment was all messed up this morning so they needed to reschedule me to come back.   Fingers crossed everything looks good tomorrow.  I am nervous as with the exception of being hungry all the time, I do not really feel pregnant.  I have actually gained 5 pounds already.  I need to be careful not to gain too much weight too fast.  I need to start eating better as I have not been the most disciplined lately.  It is so different this time as with my little guy, I did not gain much weight at all in the 1T as I was quite nauseous most of the time.   It is amazing how different it can be!  My gut feels this is a boy!  Not sure why I feel this way but I do.  I am not sure if everything goes well that we will find out.  I know I would want to but last time, my DH did not want to and we did so part of me feels like I should not find out this time.  Not sure if I can do that though.  I will be happy either way but part of me wants a boy for my little guy -- as the bond between brothers is very cool. I see it with my DH and his brother who is 11 months younger than he is!!

Time for me to get ready for bed!!  Thank you for letting me babble!  Fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

Graduated to the OB!

Life has been crazy the last week or so!  Lots of news that I will update later on but for the best part, we had another u/s yesterday and we have been released to the OB!  We saw the beautiful heartbeat at 166bpm.  I am still nervous as my bean measured 8w6d and I am 9w1d (per my dr - I thought it was 9w2d but I always mess up the counting.)  I have been told though that measuring within 2 or 3 days is not necessarily bad and that measurements at this point can be off.  I keep telling myself that my RE would not have sent me to the OB if he did not think everything was OK.  He did say that at this point, there is a 95% chance everything will progress well - so of course I dwell on the 5%.  I am trying to remain calm!  My first OB appointment is next Thursday, 4/19.  It is just an initial appointment with the midwife at my OB's office.  They ask that patients meet with the midwife for the first 2 appointments & then you can choose to meet with an OB afterward or stay with the midwife.  I already know assuming everything goes well that I will move to working with an OB.  I really liked my OB with Aaron.

I am debating and wanted to ask your thoughts.  This is assuming everything goes well at my appointment next week.  My OB's office last time did not offer an NT scan so I am assuming they will not again this time (unless they have changed their policies over the last 2 years). I did have the quad screen (and from there chose not to do any more testing.)  With being older (I will be 40 in September), I am wondering if I should call a MFM to ask for a NT scan.  Even though things have gone better since the first u/s, I can not get it out of my head along with my age, my first u/s where the yolk sac measured larger than it should be and my RE mentioned that sometimes indicated genetic issues.  Should I ask the midwife what she thinks or should I just go ahead and find  a MFM on my own?  I know there is a certain time period where the NT scan should be done.  I will be 10w3d when I meet with the midwife so I think there is still some time.  I am assuming even if they do not offer it, that she will know what it is? I guess if she doesn't, then I would just call a MFM on my own.  What do you think?  Should I wait until Thursday to inquire?

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
