DH's Birthday in Two weeks...

And I have no idea what to do or get for him. My DH is always so good at surprising me with creative things to do or with unique gifts! I know we just went on vacation and I took him out for a really nice dinner our last night there -- but I still would like to do something special for him even if it is little. A couple of ideas I have thought of:

* My DH is the cook in our house and maybe I could try to cook him a nice dinner. The problem is what would I make since I am not very good at cooking?!?

* Take him to a baseball game as he is a huge Detroit Tigers fan. However, this would be a weekend trip away as Detroit is 3 hours from us. And I am not sure at this stage I want to sit in the heat watching a baseball game. I thought maybe I could see if his brothers/friends in Detroit might take him but then I feel bad it would not be something we are doing together.

* Take him on a picnic to one of the local parks/beaches.

Hmmm.. I will have to keep thinking of ideas. Any advice or suggestions?!?

23 Weeks - Update

I have not been great about documenting things lately so I thought I would try to get back on track.

How far along?: 23w0d = )

Weight?: +9 pounds. I gained about 4 pounds in one week while on vacation last week(Ooops). I knew I ate terribly but did not know that terribly! I hope I do not get yelled at next week at my appt for gaining too much too fast. I need to start exercising more. I know it is so important!

Maternity clothes?: I wore maternity shirts for the first time on our vacation. They were great. I still have a few regular shirts I can wear for work. I am completely in maternity pants & shorts!

Stretch marks?: Yes, unfortunately but not as many as I thought I would have by now. I am sure they will come. I continue to use lotion as much as I can remember.

Sleep?: Not very well on vacation but now that we are back home, the snoogle is helping. I still wake up quite a bit on on my back as it is still most comfortable. I hope this is OK.

Best moment this week?: On monday, our little guy was pretty active so I am loving every moment of movement/activity.

Movement?: Yes, but not consistent (which makes me a very anxious person.) Monday was an active day (it was great), Tuesday very quiet (I was soooooo anxious) and today a little more active but not as much as Monday (he puts a smile on my face every moment he moves). Although, very quiet tonight (again making me very anxious!)I am trying not to get too nervous about the inconsistency but I just can not help it! I am still using the doppler. I try to remember I do have an anterior placenta that softens the movement.

Food cravings?: M&Ms (I know not good!!)

What I miss?: Diet Coke!

What I'm looking forward to?: More movement! I keep telling him he can go ahead and kick me all day if he would like = ) I really do not mind.

How's Daddy? Very happy! He talks to Baby Dude in the mornings and he loves rubbing my belly.

Emotions: OMG! My emotions are all over the board. One minute HAPPY AS A CLAM and the next minute, Nervous as Nervous Nellies can be! I bend down the wrong way and freak out I am hurting him. I do not feel a movement for an hour and freak out that something is wrong. I am so much more anxious than I ever imagined I would be. I am normally not this way at all. I do need to learn to chill out a bit! I have not figured how yet.

Other: I have an appt with my primary physician tomorrow for my semi-annual skin check. I had a large cyst and precancerous mole removed last year so they ask me to come in twice a year now. My mom also had some precancerous skin issues so it runs in my family. My doctor does not know I am pregnant so I am looking forward to seeing him as he is really nice. My next OB appt is in 6 days - YEAH! I will be meeting with the 2nd of three OBs in the office. I was supposed to meet with him at my last appt but he had something like 5 or 7 deliveries the day/night before so he was not there that morning of my appt.

Puerto Rico Pictures

Hello! Here are some pictures from our recent trip to Puerto Rico. I unfortunately could not get them in order. My DH has more on his IPhone but I have not been able to download them yet. I will post a few more when I am able to, probably this weekend.

First one is the view from our room at the Inn where we stayed on Vieques Island (small island off the coast of the mainland where we spent two days.)

The next two are pictures of the Rain Forest, outside of San Juan. We rented a car and took a day trip out here. It was really beautiful and picturesque. I am not sure if the pictures show this as well as being there in person!

Next three are views of Old San Juan and the coastline:

Overall, we had a nice time. It was a place that I am glad I was able to see but would probably favor going someplace new over going back to. We spent 4 days in San Juan, 2 days on Vieques Island and another 1 1/2 days back in San Juan. We originally had 3 days planned on Vieques but came back a day early due to bad weather. I am glad we came back a day early as it gave us a little more time to spend in Old San Juan. It was very hot & humid most of the week, but our last day there was not too bad as the rain cooled it down a bit. We ended up spending more time at the pool than we normally would have - with the heat & humidity, I was tired out a lot more easily despite my great efforts to stay hydrated. This time of the year is their slow season so that was nice as there were not too many people. I really can not imagine what it would be like during their busy season. The hotel we stayed at for the 1st 4 days was very nice -- our view of the water from our room was spectacular (pictures are on the Iphone so I do not have them yet.) There was a really cute restaurant down the street where we went for breakfast every morning. The pancakes were so tasty!! We only ate one dinner at the hotel as it was very expensive. We tried a few different restaurants in the area for dinner. Our best meal though was one of our lunches at a small restaurant in San Juan. The flan was amazing! Can you tell I enjoyed desert during our trip -- and it shows as I gained as much weight on our trip as I gained in the first 20 weeks (I hope I do not get yelled at next week for my larger weight gain this time around.) The rain forest was beautiful and the island of Vieques was too. Vieques did not have much to do and is not meant for nervous pg women like me with the roads. I do not normally feel sick in cars but I did here. As my post last week showed, it made me incredibly nervous. If I had to do this again, we would not have gone to the small island.

I am sorry I have rambled on and on. Overall, it was a nice trip. It is always nice to get away from work & life for a little bit. By the end, I was a little home sick. I am glad to be home and back into a routine!

Happy ICLW!

Happy ICLW! Welcome to my blog! Thank you for visiting! I look forward to learning more about those I have met already and to meeting new friends that I have not met yet! My blog currently documents the journey of my pregnancy after TTC for 3 years. I do know infertility is a very difficult journey and completely understand if you decide not to read further. I thought I would mention this just in case you find it difficult to read. I do wish you the very best in your journeys and will be cheering you on throughout!

As an introduction, my name is Leslie. I am 37 1/2 years old and have been married to my wonderful DH for 7 1/2 years. We started TTC in February 2007. Throughout the 3 years we were TTC, we went through a year of some very long/irregular cycles, 5 rounds of Clomid, MFI diagnosis, IVF/FET and 3 IUI/injectable cycles before our successful IUI/injectable cycle! We experienced two very early losses with our FET and first IUI/injectable cycle last year. We are beyond excited and over the moon to be 22w5d today! We found out 2 1/2 weeks ago and are very excited to be having a little boy, who we have named Aaron. When we told my parents about the name we had chosen, we found out that it was my grandfather's first name too! He passed away when I was 11 months and my dad always talks about him using his middle name (Harry) instead of Aaron so I had no idea. I was so speechless to find out that the name Aaron has a family link. We have decided to use my maiden name as his middle name as well. We wanted some family meaning in his name and are so excited to have two family meanings in the end = )

We just got back from our baby moon to Puerto Rico so I have some catching up to do! I still have to upload photos and will post separately about our trip! I am off in the meantime to watch the Bachelorette!

Thank you again for visiting my blog! Happy ICLW!

Emotions Emotions Emotions

I never imagined feeling so emotional. On a drop of a dime, tears fill my eyes and I can not stop them. This vacation has not helped that either. It was supposed to be relaxing and has been more stressful than I thought. We have had some fun but I can not stop being stressed. I wonder every minute if I am doing something wrong, if I have made a bad decision, was this vacation a bad idea?

We decided to venture to this small island off the coast and had to take a puddle jumper plane. That was not a fun flight. What was I even thinking agreeing to the part of the trip? I was naive....With how careful I have been, I should have not agreed to come here. And there is a storm coming so we are flying back today instead of tomorrow. The roads here are bumpy and I feel nauseaus riding in the car. We went on this neat biobay tour last night but the drive there was bumpy and nerve wracking so I did not completely enjoy of course. I have not slept much, have not eaten well and have let my emotions get the best of me. I hope that I have not done anything wrong. My husband has tried his best to calm my nerves. I think I will feel better once we get back to the mainland tonight.

I will write more about the fun parts and attach pictures of the beautiful scenery soon. I am going to go take a nap and mentally prepare for the puddle jumper flight back.

Worry and Drs Visit Update

On Tuesday night, my uterus felt like it was in a constant state of tightness. It was very uncomfortable. After laying down for a while and using the Doppler, I finally was able to fall asleep. My wonderful dh laid next to me until I fell asleep. Wednesday morning and afternoon I felt better but I called the drs office to ask about it especially with our upcoming vacation. I played phone tag and did not get to talk with them. I got home from work and was very uncomfortable again that evening. I did not get much sleep and called the drs office again this morning. They had me come in right away. My dr who I love listened to the heartbeat and did an exam. She said everything looks good but to be safe asked me to rest and stay home from work for today and tomorrow. She was so comforting and was glad I came in as she said it is better to be safe. Although the tightness is still there I am feeling a little better. I just hope the rest helps so I can enjoy our vacation coming up. I do feel very lucky to have a dr I really like and feel comfortable with.

Our Little Boys Name and 20w4d Quiz

We have decided on a name and I thought I would share: AARON . I just found out today too that my grandfathers first name was Aaron. I did not know this because he always went by his middle name (Harry) and that is all I had ever knew. He passed away when I was 11 months old so I did not know him. It was so cool when my mom told me this tonight. We are going to use my maiden name for his middle name. My dad's middle name is his mother's maiden name so we thought this was a nice tradition to start up again as my parents did not give my brother my mom's middle name.

I did a tiny bit of shopping on Friday. I bought two onesies and also bought friendly Mr Alligator stuffed animal. I could not resist as I thought it they were so cute:

Quiz Time:

How far along?: 20w4d

Weight?: As of my appt Friday, +5 pounds. I am finding myself hungrier and hungrier so I am sure the speed of weight gain will increase. However, I know it is not healthy to gain weight too fast so I need to be careful to make it slow & steady.

Maternity clothes?: Still have not worn any maternity shirts yet. I bought two more pairs of shorts yesterday for our vacation and this summer.

Stretch marks?: Yes, unfortunately. Still trying to minimize with some lotion & cocoa butter.

Sleep?: Still On & Off. Snoogle is helping but I am still sleeping a lot on my back as it is most comfortable. I am trying not to worry about this too much. I keep having faith that my body will wake me up if it is not comfortable.

Best moment this week?: Finding out about expecting a little boy and our ultrasound on Friday.

Movement?: I am still thinking yes, a little. The feelings are still quite soft and not all that frequent. I can not wait for stronger and more definitive movements. Hopefully it will not be too much longer.

Food cravings?: M&Ms (I know not good!!) DH bought a large bag last weekend and they have been calling my name all week.

What I miss?: Still Sushi & Diet Coke! I might have to splurge on vacation and have a caffeine free diet coke or at least a diet sprite. I miss the soda bubbles and seltzer is not quite the same.

What I'm looking forward to?: More movement and starting on the nursery. I started looking at checklists yesterday to get a feel for what is needed. I love checklists so this will help me a lot!

How's Daddy? Very excited!! He shows it very differently than I do but I can tell he is excited!

Emotions: This weekend, all over the board! I am on cloud 9 after our u/s and appt on Friday. However, I am also finding myself incredibly nervous this weekend -- I am even more attached now to my little bean now that we know the gender and have decided on a name for our little boy. I hope & pray the next 20 weeks are as smooth as the 1st 20 weeks.

20 week u/s update and we are joining team....

BLUE!! We are expecting a little boy ! = )

I got back from my 20 week appt a little bit ago. I am taking the day off but my DH had to go to work = ( . I am hoping to go shopping in a little bit as I want to get my DH something little to celebrate today. My appt went well. The ultrasound was really cool and it was so awesome seeing my little one again! I could live in the ultrasound room just watching our baby move all day.

The pictures they gave us are not great as our little one kept moving, wiggling and scrunching himself up. I will work on getting a couple posted soon. We are glad though he finally decided to reveal himself as it was a ways into the ultrasound before he would. Now, we need to decide a name as we have not talked much about names yet. My DH has been calling him "Baby Dude" for a while now even though we did not have confirmation of the gender. So, he will always be known as Baby Dude = ) I will always call him our little bean!

The u/s techs and midwife said initial measurements look good - the final report will be back on Monday or Tuesday. I have asked them to give me a call just to confirm results. They confirmed I have an anterior placenta so although I have felt some movements this week, it has been light. I think the anterior placenta is why.

I got back my quad screen results and have decided not to go for further testing so I was happy about that. My TSH is borderline as I have hypothyroidism. They are not going to increase my synthroid just yet but will test again in a month or so to keep an eye on it. They said as long as I am feeling good, no need to change my dosage. I am to call if this changes of course.

So far, so good!! I just hope things continue to go smoothly. Next appt is in 3 1/2 weeks. I wish there was not so much time in between but hopefully I will continue to feel more movements over the next few weeks to help. And I am still using the doppler too. And the next u/s will be the 3D u/s that our hospital offers between 28-32 weeks.

Now, I have to start getting prepared for our vacation in 8 days = )

Hope everyone is well!
